Effective Praying for Christians

Effective Prayer

Effective prayers are needed in this day and hour. I think we all would like to believe that our prayers are effective. In western culture, it’s almost a given that when we find ourselves needing help we go to prayer. It seems that we know quite a bit about prayer since we all at one time or another have told someone, “my prayers are with you”. Or something to that effect. The question we must ask ourselves is what is prayer and how can I pray effectively? Continue reading “Effective Praying for Christians”

Why is there Death?

Why is there Death in this Life?

Why is there death? Although death is the one subject we probably like talking about the least, it is the one we cannot afford to ignore. Death is the equalizer in life. It doesn’t matter if your poor, middle-class, or rich we will all die! We can ignore the subject, we can refrain from talking about it, we can pretend it won’t happen to us, but we cannot escape it. Continue reading “Why is there Death?”

The Danger of Deeds becoming Doctrine

The Danger of Deeds Becoming Doctrine

There is a danger in deeds becoming doctrine! We often talk about the dangers of leaving things unsaid that are in the bible. We should be equally concerned about the dangers of adding to the bible what it does not say. It seems that in the hour we are living many believers choose to remain ignorant concerning the truths of the word of God. Continue reading “The Danger of Deeds becoming Doctrine”

Pain can Produce a Promise

Pain Produces a Promise
Pain Produces a Promise
Who wants Pain?

Pain produces a promise. Can pain really produce a promise? The other day my six-year-old son was very upset that he wasn’t able to get a flu shot because he was too young. He would have to receive the flu vaccination in a mist form. The little guy was so upset that he cried and pouted. Continue reading “Pain can Produce a Promise”

Lording Leaders

Lording Leaders
God’s Way
Lording Leaders in Today’s Church?

Lording leaders? I Peter 5:1-3 Lording in the context of the aforementioned scriptures means: to control or subjugate. I’m sure there are no churches in the entire world that have leaders who have abused their power. Perhaps I’m wrong though and there is a church or two out there. So for the sake of my argument let me go ahead and address those couple of churches. Continue reading “Lording Leaders”

Liberty in Christ vs. Old Testament Law

Liberty in Christ

Liberty in Christ or Cherry Picking the Old Testament

Liberty in Christ, this should be the desire of every New Testament believer. Let me start this article by stating that I believe the word of God in its entirety. I don’t think everything written in the bible is always going to be applicable to our time, however I still believe the bible. I dare say that most professing Christians would say they believe the bible as well. Let’s not be the kind of Christian though who picks and chooses what to believe and ignores what we don’t want to believe. In my experience picking and choosing what one wants to believe occurs more often than not with the Old Testament. Continue reading “Liberty in Christ vs. Old Testament Law”

We Need Christ in our Christianity

We Need Christ

Christ is needed in this hour. An Indian philosopher named Bara Dada once said, “Jesus is ideal and wonderful, but you Christians, you are not like him.” This quote may be offensive to many Christians, however, if we are honest with ourselves there has been a time or two when we didn’t quite represent Christ as we should have. We are needing Christ in our lives more than anything else.  Continue reading “We Need Christ in our Christianity”
